A Night Life Guide for the 20-something 'Titos and Titas'

Story by: Angela Mari Torres

Parties are fun and all, but have you ever found yourself irritated by the loud thud of music in your ears? By all the people crowded around you? If you do, and you're not even in your early thirties yet, then let's face it; you're a tito/tita. I mean, we’ve all had those moments where we’d just want to get drunk comfortably. Then again, when has getting drunk ever been comfortable?

Baguio has a variation of bars and hang out spots all around the city, but if you’re looking for a place without the crowd and all the noise, here are some spots you might want to check out;

CAFÉ CARIDAD

Caridad serves the coldest beers among all the other places I’ve been to. The ambiance and overall aesthetic of the place gives off a rustic, relaxing vibe which will make you want to drink the night away.

Cold weather + cold beer = a chill night.

URBAN SEOUL RESTAURANT

If you’ve got a craving for some Korean food and a 2X2 bottle of gin after, Urban Seoul’s the place to be. They also have pool and beer pong tables. They even have a corner where you could try on traditional Korean clothes and take pictures in them. The restaurant has a warm and light feel to it, perfect for a hot meal and some liquor after.

PEPPER STRINGS RESTO GRILL

Got a thing for hot stuff? Peppers, as others refer to it, offers a variety of spice in their menu as they are currently known for their servings of sisig and chicken wings. Also, their cocktail mixes could get you from a happy drunk to a lord-i-ain’t-drinking-ever-again drunk, so choose your battle wisely. They also have a KTV room for those who want to sing into the night. There's a spot for beer pong too!

ROCK'N WOODS CAFÉ

If you're a little bit country and a little bit rock 'n roll, Rock'n Woods is the place for you, Here, you'll be sure to get that Baguio country rock vibe. The drinks are really affordable, especially the beer! They also have an area for playing darts and a small stage for performers. Their pancit and silog varieties are a must-try too.

RIPRAP OUTDOOR RESTO

If you really want to drink in peace, this is the place for you. RipRap may be outdoor, but it's great for having a drink and getting some fresh air. The ambiance is kind of dim, but it works for a night of slight sulking and drinking. Their sisig is a good complement to whatever you'd choose to drink.

But, whether you prefer all the raving and jumping or just simply sitting around a table with your friends, always remember to drink responsibly because, as a good friend once said, "I'm not drunk, I'm drink!"
