Updated: Apr 25, 2019

Story by Kim Shelly Tan

Trends come and go very quickly, and sometimes, this is the frustration of fashionistas at heart. There are times when we only catch on fashion trends just as they are about to fade. No more fashion #FOMO! Here are some fashionable social media stars to follow so you’re sure you’re ahead in the fashion game. These people who like to go out of the box with their fashion choices certainly deserve your follow!

1. QJin and QWon Han

Based in Seoul, South Korea, twins Kyujin and Kyuwon Han (better known as QJin and QWon o by their social media handle Q-squared-Han) are two of the most fashion-forward vloggers to follow on social media. If you are one to envy the unique looks served during Seoul Fashion Week and wish to see more of these one-of-a-kind styles year-round, the Han twins are the gals you should keep your sights on. They have a keen eye for clothing pieces with mixed prints and are unafraid to match different colors, cuts, textures, and prints! They can also easily go from casual outfits to streetwear to semi-formal, but never lose touch with their quirky, unique personalities in the clothes they wear.

2. Karen Yeung

Karen Yeung is a Hong Kong-born, LA-based makeup and fashion vlogger who wears edgy outfits of leopard and snakeskin prints as well as neon pieces like they are her second skin. She makes exotic prints look like they are so easy to pull off one would be tempted to try out such pieces. Karen often channels old Hollywood and retro fashion in the looks she features and exudes a rich Asian aesthetic in many of her most iconic looks. Her makeup expertise and her unique earrings make her flamboyant outfits stand out even more. She is also known for her cinematic vlogging style, which makes her lookbooks and try-on haul videos even more exciting to watch.

3. Fei Yang

Although her YouTube videos are mostly of fun beauty-related experiments and both real-life and edited interactions with K-pop stars, Fei Yang’s YouTube channel also features fashion, skincare, and makeup videos. Being a self-confessed “K-pop trash”, Fei loves making videos of K-pop idol- or idol group-inspired outfits and does K-style plus-size try-on hauls. She has even bought the actual clothes K-pop idols have used in what she calls her K-pop closet series! Among the groups she has done a K-pop closet video of are groups Twice, Blackpink, and BTS.

4. Jean Dalida

If you are into thrifting, fashion vlogger Jean Dalida from the Philippines is your girl. She is proud to say that some of her seemingly high-end brand clothes are from the trusty ol’ ukay-ukay (thrift store). Jean goes far beyond your basic high waist jeans and shirt thrift combo. She rocks work-to-date outfits like a boss, even managing to score rare thrift finds such as Marks and Spencer coordinates and her latest and probably best steal yet, vintage Versace jeans.

5. Ashley

Ashley is a 19-year old YouTuber based in LA who is known for her admirable thrifting and clothes altering skills. Her style is mostly retro-inspired, as seen in her love for leopard and plaid prints and chunky heels. Ashley is the one to follow if you are looking for multiple ways to style a piece of clothing or if you just happen to occasionally enjoy fangirling at unique thrift finds. If her thrifting and styling skills are not enough, Ashley’s opinion on women’s issues and her political humor would definitely win you over.

6. Edward Avila

Edward is the person to follow if you want to achieve the male K-pop idol look, as you will not only be taking notes of his unique clothing pieces but would be learning how to nail the makeup looks as well.
